STATE OF THE TRAILS


Although spring of 2022 will not beat the wettest year on record inthe Midwest (2019), the trails saw their share of rain, but mowinghas now begun!


Steve has mowed the area behind the Riding Center and will finish theremaining trails as soon as it is dry enough. So be patientequestrians, those beautiful trails are on the mend!




SATURDAY MORNINGTRAIL RIDES


We have resumed the Saturday morning trail rides so please joins us!

*Trotting ride will follow the walk only.




4th OF JULY PARADE


What’s a 4th of July Parade without…? You guessed it... Horses!Please contact Jane Clement if you would like to join us in theparade


*Riding in a parade can be challenging and not all horses are up toit. To continue keeping it fun and safe, we reserve the right torefuse any horse or rider we deem not ready for the experience.


**The Riding Club is looking for four enthusiastic people for:

1 Carrying the Club’s banner = 2

2 Pooper Scoopers = 2




WHAT’S HAPPENING ATTHE PARK DISTRICT


Trail Obstacle Course – Currently being developed near the HuntHouse grounds, complete with a teeter totter. Thank you, ClareMantelman, for this generous donation! Plans for bending poles arebeing discussed with the Park District.


There is a new round pen in the above-mentioned area; please usecaution when using it as it has been placed on grass. The ParkDistrict will consider a sand footing based on the amount of usage.


Please keep an eye out for two working equitation clinics scheduledfor this summer. Since last year’s clinic was such an enormoussuccess, we expect to have both clinics sell out quickly!

*No previous experience necessary to have loads of fun!


New Outside Arena

A big shout out to Jessica Underwood and Steve Allen for spearheadingthe new outside arena, complete with a new dressage arena due to behere by July!


*Keep your eyes open for the dressage show scheduled for this summer.




FOREST PRESERVE


Efforts are being made in hopes of saving and preserving the McGinleyconditioning track on Horizon Farm.


165 Algonquin Road Estate (owned by the FPCC) This property includesa main residence with a large separate guest house. The ForestPreserve is asking for all interests in using these residences before2023 demolition plans are pursued.




** You are invited tothe Horizon’s Farm Public Meeting on Tuesday, June 14th at theBarrington White House (145 W. Main Street). 6pm – 8pm. Come andlearn about the latest site planning efforts and share your ideas!
